Tariffs, imports, recalls.... are all over the news. For us, and you, we are just plodding along as normal. Our beef cows with calves at their side got moved this morning to fresh grass after they demolished another salad bar, leaving only digested matter that will richly fertilize and feed the many, many millions of animals beneath the surface. Instead of worrying about the content of your beef, you can thaw the packages of meat knowing they came from just a few family farms, processed at a family butcher who we know by name and then delivered to you. A nice small loop. Nothing flashy. 

August seems to be the best of times and the worst of times, for the very same reason. It is impending doom to those who don't feel the slight change to the breezes. Not enough hay? Haven't put wood in for winter? Stockpiled minerals for the animals? Bedding for the sheds? So many lists and it is very easy to feel overwhelmed in the midst of it. Last week I took a deep breath, put pickles and sauerkraut up, weeded my garden and did some laundry. I know, not Mt Everest but when you look in every direction and see jobs that NEED done, sometimes doing the simplest and most pressing really does give you some peace in the midst of a storm. That, and prayer.

We are SO close to shipping every week. In fact, a few weeks in August we did ship out to a few customers and it went well. The temps have risen though, so we are planning on shipping Sept. 15th for delivery on the 16th. If that week doesn't work OR if you are running low, let us know! We can try shipping earlier for you - Sept. 8th for delivery on the 10th. The meat may not be fully frozen, but it has been showing up nice and cold - safe to pop what you don't plan on eating back in the freezer to firm up again. 

Here is the upcoming shipping schedule;

• September Shares Shipping; Sept. 15th ( If cool,  it can ship any week after this)
• October Shares Shipping; Oct. 5th ( or any other week)
• November Shares Shipping; Nov. 2nd ( or any other week)

Share options for this month. Below is an example Small Beef, Pork & Chicken* Share, your share may be different and we are open to customizing your share - just ask! 

• Whole Chicken or Pork Roast ( Boneless or Bone-in Shoulder, Loin or Ham)
• Ground Beef (1-2) AND/OR Patties or Sweet Italian Links
• Ground Pork or Sausages ( Breakfast, Sweet Italian, Hot Italian, Chorizo, Bratwurst, Smoked Kielbasa or Smoked Andouille) 
• Top Sirloin, Sirloin Tip, Cube, or Sandwich Steak
• Chicken Breast, Leg/Thighs, Drumsticks, Wings or Thighs( Limit ONE BL/BI Thighs)
• Beef Rib, T-bone, Porterhouse, NY Strip, or Ribeye Steaks
• OR Cut of Your choice or swap out above cuts for; extra Ground Beef or Pork, Sausages, Bacon, Snack Sticks, Jerky, Summer Sausage, Huntley's Maple Syrup, MacCue's Honey/Creams, Raquette River Coffee, or All Chicken or All Beef Pet Blends, Tallow or any of the Tallow Balms.

The guys have been busy hacking their way through overgrown brush and tress, creating a road into pastures we have been unable, until now, to get to. They made it! 192 yards in, over I've been working on a couple of new tallow balms, one is Hibiscus Flower and the other is Borage. Those tiny blue flowers to the left, are my very own Borage flowers. My goal for the next few years is to not only source the tallow from our ranch, but also many of the botanicals I use. If you would like to try one of the Hibiscus Flower sample jars, let me know and we can include it in your share.
