APRIL 2025 CSA NEWSLETTER

Fencing season, or rather fence repair season has begun. Checking the miles of fence for downed trees, deer accidents (when they didn't quite jump high enough) and of course, just normal wear and tear. The grass is not quite this green yet, but coming along fast now. Even more brilliant against the morning snow flurries that cover it briefly before it melts under the warmth of spring sunshine.

Great news for everyone who loves our Soy & GMO free Pastured Chicken - we have found both organic feed and chicks for this summer. With the Avian flu hindering travel between states we are very thankful to have the New Fire hatchery in NYS to get our chicks from. Lord willing, you should have fresh chicken in your share for the August CSA Share!

NEW PRODUCTS - Tallow last month and this month, COFFEE! We met a sweet couple ( Sean & Diana) over the summer at our farmers' market roast coffee. Their Midnight Lullaby is our favorite but they have rotating options along with decaf! Organic, Free Trade and delicious...Would you be interested in doing a Coffee CSA Share? Check out their offerings and then give us a shout if you would like us to start offering it.

Share invoices come out on the 21st of every month and I will post this newsletter on our blog shortly after. I will also email you the link so you don’t miss the news. Inside work. Last month I went to a naturopathic nurse. I tend to be skeptical of most health related things 'from on high' but this was such a pleasant change. She listened, asked questions and then began answering some of mine. I left with some supplements to take in addition to what I'm taking regularly, as well as some tips for life. The problem I have is the lack of 'show and tell'. Who doesn't want to lose 10 lb. easily, or to put 10 lb. on easily? To radically change your health in some flashy and amazing way. Me! This slow and methodical "inside work" is just that... slow. It has had me thinking about all the things we consume and how it affects our health. Watch a trashy show and you don't feel uplifted or edified, but just a little clip of someone being selfless and I'm in tears over their kindness. Eat that donut with all its promises of sweetness... yeah, that just ends with sadness and a stomach ache. 30 days is such a short time and yet, I can feel the small changes and be grateful that even now, inside work can happen and be quite profound.

Slowly, slowly I grow,
Kassandra
